What should I bear in mind when installing a door handle?

First, make sure you have the following tools:

  • A screwdriver to match the screws in the package, usually slotted or Phillips
  • A cordless drill and wooden drill bit with the correct diameter for the door handles; also brackets, a centre punch and a hammer for marking the drilling points
  • Safety goggles

Steps to fitting a door handle:

  • To keep the door open, operate the closing mechanism. This will make it easier for you to work. Push the door handle through the lock of the element. Then slide the drilling template over the square, which is enclosed in the packaging.
  • Once you have aligned the drilling template perfectly, use the centre punch to mark the drilling points. Repeat this process on the back of the door.
  • Drill the first holes into the side of the door that will be opened. Place the drill with the correct diameter exactly on the grain. Now drill halfway through the door, to protect the upper material from tearing out. Do the same on the other side. For this, it is best to remove the door handle to create more space for working.
  • Attach the rosettes and secure them with screws. Since these are small screws, it is advisable to use a screwdriver.
  • Finally, attach the door handle. Insert the handle with the square from the inside of the room. Thanks to this procedure, the door can be opened if the door handle falls off. As a last step, tighten the grub screw on the side of the handle without the square.

Be careful to work very precisely when fitting the handles for doors to ensure that both holes match. Also remove any sawdust from the hole after you have drilled the holes.
