Walnut parquet

particularly classy

The rich brown of walnut parquet adds unique decorative charm as a wide plank or small ship's floor plank. The partially swirled grain of walnut contrasts with straight-lined interiors in a playful way. These contrasts bring balance to your living space.

Walnut parquet – elegant and exclusive

Walnut parquet floor gives a room an exclusive ambience and goes particularly well with the most sophisticated interiors. Due to its dark colour, it harmonises best with light-coloured furniture and walls. In addition to its attractive appearance, walnut is characterised by a high degree of hardness. As a parquet floor, it is therefore very resistant to wear and tear and it’s so durable. You will enjoy a high-quality walnut parquet floor for a long time.

Walnut parquet variants

At planeo you can get walnut parquet in both oiled and lacquered versions. Treating a floor with an oil makes it look very natural and makes the grain stand out even more. However, oiled parquet is somewhat more sensitive to water and dirt than lacquered parquet. The latter has a completely closed surface that protects the wood from all external influences. Lacquered parquet is therefore also very suitable for areas where the floors are subject to heavier wear.

At planeo, you also have the choice between wider country house planks, 2-strip parquet and ship’s floor panels, which are composed of numerous wooden strips. All three variants are available with right-angled and slightly bevelled edges. The bevels create small joints, just like floor tiles. They therefore make the individual elements of a wooden floor visible.

Laying walnut parquet yourself and caring for it properly

You can easily lay walnut parquet yourself with just a little manual skill. The practical click system ensures a firm connection between the individual elements. The necessary installation accessories as well as supplementary underlays, such as impact sound insulation, can be ordered from planeo too. If you decide on an oiled walnut parquet, you should also think about a suitable oil. This after-treatment is necessary for most oiled parquet floors in order to optimally protect the floor from dirt and moisture. You should renew this protection regularly by re-oiling the parquet.

A high-quality parquet floor is best cleaned dry, with a broom or hoover with brush attachment. If you want to mop it, make sure you use as little water as possible on the surface. In our online shop you will find suitable floor care products with which you can clean and care for your parquet. With the effective care products from the planeo range, your new floor will stay beautiful for a long time to come.

The 5 most frequently asked questions about Parquet Flooring

Parquet is not suitable for installation in damp rooms. To adapt to the climatic conditions of the room, parquet planks should be stored for about 48 hours to acclimatise. As wood is a living natural material, leave an expansion gap of 10 mm between the floor and the wall when installing. You can cover this later with skirting boards or cover strips.

The colour of the parquet floor has a great influence on the overall effect of the room. Parquet in paler colours immediately brings light into the room and makes it appear larger. Dark parquet floors look noble and opulent, while exuding warmth and cosiness. Grey wooden floors create a calm, elegant ambience. Natural-coloured floors are cosy and neutral and can fit any room, be it lively or calm, rustic or elegant.

Parquet with a lacquered surface reflects more light and is easier to clean. Oiled parquet brings out the fine grain of the wood and its natural colour. It’s important that a parquet floor with a lacquered surface is maintained and, if necessary, re-oiled over time.

The general rule is that the planks should be laid lengthwise towards the light. This emphasises the shape of the room. For long and narrow rooms, it is recommended to lay parquet lengthwise.

As a natural floor covering, parquet is protected from dirt and moisture by a sealant. For initial care, it is sufficient to clean the parquet floor dry with a broom, mop or vacuum cleaner. A naturally oiled parquet floor must also be treated with a suitable agent. Clean the parquet surface either dry or with a slightly damp cloth or mop.
