Latex paint consists of a mixture of water, colour pigments and, like emulsion paint, plastics as binding agents. It is therefore a subcategory of emulsion paint. The chemical substance acrylate, which is often used as a binder in paint production, ensures that the dried latex paint adheres to the walls.

Due to their particularly robust properties, latex paints are especially suitable for surfaces that are exposed to heavy loads, such as offices, hotels and restaurants. Latex paints are also ideal for areas with particularly high-traffic walls, such as stairwells and hallways, where people easily brush against the wall, for example when carrying shopping. As a result, latex paints are more diffusion-restricted than normal emulsion paints and do not offer optimal conditions for use in bathrooms.

With a latex paint, you acquire a cleanable paint for interior use. This means that if a stain lands on the latex paint, you can usually simply wipe it off with a damp cloth. Latex paints are also hygienically clean and resistant to disinfectants. This means they can also be used in sensitive living and working areas, such as schools, hospitals, kindergartens, etc.
