Laminate flooring with a high-gloss look – what is it all about?

Laminate is a floor covering that consists of a wood-based carrier layer, onto which the top layer is glued. This is usually a layer of paper, which is printed and then made super resistant with melamine resin. High-gloss laminate differs from conventional laminate in its special electron-beam hardened structure, also known as EPL. The resin-impregnated paper surfaces are pressed together with a plastic film and then processed with electrons so that the floor covering not only becomes harder but also has more shine. This environmentally friendly method allows for a highly abrasion-resistant and durable surface and gives the laminate that glossy look that sets it apart.
