Installing a door frame

If you want to install an interior door yourself, measure the door opening and fit the frame. This is followed by fitting the door handle or knob. With a little manual skill, you can easily do this work yourself. The first step is to buy the frame. Then check the work area before installing the door and determine the door's stopping position and opening direction. Then proceed as follows:

1. Lay out the various elements of the frame, without the door, in a U-shape.
2. Glue, screw or staple the mitre cuts of the door frame, without the door.
3. Clean the planeo door frame thoroughly.
4. Place the frame in the door opening and level out any unevenness.
5. Fix and align it.
6. Insert expansion timbers and check that the door runs correctly.
7. Foam out the frame for the door.
8. Accurately cut off excess material from the door frame.
9. Fill the remaining joints with silicone for optimal sealing.
